Privacy Policy

Last updated 29 August 2026 · Terms & Conditions

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Lets Watch ("we", "us") collects when you use https://lets-watch.live and our apps, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We are the data controller for that information.

1. Data we collect

You give us:

  • Account details — email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), display name and username.
  • Profile details — avatar, bio, country, date of birth or age, favourite genres and watch preferences.
  • Content — chat messages, voice and video messages, room names, reviews, ratings, watch links and streaming profile links you choose to save.
  • Payment details — when you subscribe, our payment provider collects your card data. We never see or store full card numbers; we store only the subscription status, plan and provider identifiers.

We collect automatically:

  • Usage data — pages and titles viewed, swipes, matches, rooms joined, trailer impressions and clicks, and feature usage.
  • Technical data — IP address, device type, browser, operating system, language, approximate region derived from IP, and timestamps.
  • Diagnostic data — error reports and performance logs.

We do not ask for or store passwords for Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ or any other streaming platform. "Connecting" a streaming account only saves a link you paste.

2. How we use your data

  • To create and run your account, sign you in and keep you signed in.
  • To provide core features: discovery, matching, friends, chat, calls and synced watch rooms.
  • To personalise recommendations, including AI-assisted suggestions based on your favourite genres and watch history.
  • To process subscriptions and payments.
  • To keep the platform safe: prevent fraud, spam and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
  • To analyse and improve the Service using aggregated statistics.
  • To contact you about your account, security notices and — with your consent where required — product news.

Legal bases (EU/UK users): performance of a contract (running your account and rooms), legitimate interests (safety, analytics, product improvement), consent (optional cookies, marketing email, sensitive profile details you volunteer), and legal obligation (tax and compliance records).

3. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar local storage to:

  • Keep your session active after you log in (strictly necessary).
  • Remember preferences such as region, genre filters and dismissed prompts.
  • Measure aggregate usage — for example how often a trailer overlay is clicked — so we can improve the product.

Strictly necessary cookies are always on because the Service cannot work without them. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; if you do, sign-in and sync features may stop working.

4. Third-party services

We share the minimum data required with providers who process it on our behalf:

  • Hosting, database, authentication and storage — to run accounts, chat, storage and realtime rooms.
  • Payment provider — to take subscription payments securely; they receive your email and payment details directly.
  • Movie data and trailers — movie metadata comes from The Movie Database, and trailers are embedded from YouTube. When a trailer or provider link loads, that third party may set its own cookies and receive your IP address under its own privacy policy.
  • AI providers — anonymised prompts based on genres and titles for recommendation features. We do not send your chat messages for advertising purposes.
  • Analytics and error reporting — aggregated usage and diagnostic data.

We do not sell your personal data. If we ever display advertising, we will update this policy first and request consent where the law requires it.

5. Data protection and security

Data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS and stored on managed infrastructure with encryption at rest. Access to user data is restricted by row-level security rules so members can reach only their own content, their matches and rooms they belong to. Private media such as voice and video messages is stored in private buckets and served through short-lived signed links. Passwords are hashed and never readable by us or by staff.

No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us at privacy@lets-watch.live if you suspect a problem.

6. How long we keep data

We keep account data while your account exists. When you delete your account we remove your profile, matches, messages and uploaded media, except where we must keep limited records (for example payment records for tax purposes, or safety records relating to abuse reports). Backups are rotated automatically.

7. Your rights

You can:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Correct or update your profile at any time in the app.
  • Delete your account and personal data from your profile settings, or by emailing us.
  • Export a copy of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time.
  • Opt out of non-essential emails through the unsubscribe link.

8. GDPR and international transfers

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the rights described above under the GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on providers who use Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always shows the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app or by email.

10. Contact us

For privacy questions, data requests or complaints, email privacy@lets-watch.live. For anything else, write to support@lets-watch.live. We answer data requests within 30 days.
